Lake Conjola Camping! For real this time...not really

So happy to continue exploring Australia. This time we decided to try something a lot closer to home, camping at Lake Conjola. We had this trip planned post last year's fire season. We were going to head down with a bunch of friends and support the local community. We originally planned to tent camp, but that was before my husband broke both of his knees (I complained about that in my Port Macquarie post). After he broke his knees we still wanted to go, but decided he was too broken to tent camp. So we got a cabin! Then COVID hit and we postponed. Well we finally made our trip a weekend ago, and it was awesome! Our first real campsite in Australia! I have been to resorts that weren't as awesome as this place. Checking in was a breeze and contactless. The mapped directions were great and we started the short drive to our cabin without too much fuss. As we entered the park, we looked to the right and there was an awesome splash pad, a pool complete with a beach section for little kids, a tennis court, a pond water features and this big colourful blister thing that was in the ground (I later learned that was a jumping pillow - a kinda giant trampoline). Our cabin was nice, it faced the lake, and as soon as we drove up, we all got excited because there were kangaroos hanging out just off our porch! They were the first in a long line of animal visitors. There was a bunny, lots of ducks and lots of rainbow lorikeets! They were so friendly! My three year olds were able to feed the lorikeets by hand! I am pretty sure my husband was scared...lets say surprised when one of them landed on his hand to eat the bread he was trying to give the boys to feed the birds! It was pretty cool!

The accomodations were pretty nice. The large porch area had a table with chairs, a barbecue with great cabinet space and a sink. The cabin itself was well appointed with a large screen TV, a couch, a full kitchen which was well stocked (now better stocked since I left my blender), two bedrooms one with a queen sized bed and the other with a pair of bunkbeds, and a bathroom with a large shower and two shower heads. We even had air conditioning! It was really nice, but it was also why I said not really camping. So yes, I am still ruining the boys expectation of camping, but this time it was my hubby's fault. Had he not broken his knees we would have been in tents with everyone else. Honestly I did kinda miss the tent experience with our friends. We will definitely have to do it next time.

A couple things to point out I guess. Bring Off, our your favourite brand of mosquito repellent. It is a campsite right on the water and the mosquitos are pretty insistent that they be fed properly! I was told to watch out for ticks. Didn't see any, but the Off also repels ticks so just another reason to bring lots of it. The closest grocery store is probably IGA in Milton (10 minute drive). Ulladulla is not too far past Milton and it has a Woolies. Milton looked like a fun town to explore, but we just drove through. Maybe next time.

So the only downside of this experience was my blender. We accidentally left it in the kitchen. I have called back to the camp ground to see if anyone has turned it in, but my messages have gone unanswered. Hoping still to hear back this week.
